10th Annual ABSANZ Biosafety and Biocontainment Conference

Submitted by rileyta on April 30, 2020 - 03:53 PM

We hope that you can join us for the 10th Annual ABSANZ Biosafety and Biocontainment Conference. This conference is designed with the biosafety and biocontainment professional in mind. We invite you to take the opportunity to meet and discuss current issues and solutions with fellow members of the biosafety and biocontainment community. Delegates and speakers include representatives from industry, regulators, consultants and biosafety managers from Australia, New Zealand and many international locations.

Hosted in Adelaide, South Australia, the annual conference is perhaps the most exciting event on the ABSANZ calendar. Held 23 - 27 November 2020, we are celebrating 10 years of successful and stimulating conferences. The Committee has worked to ensure a varied program for architects, engineers, biosafety officers, facility managers and researchers.

  • Lab acquired infections
  • Training, governance and maintenance of training
  • Effective risk assessments
  • Current industry and regulatory issues
  • New facilities/design trends
  • Managing importation of biologicals
  • Biocontainment – including large animals and PC3 and PC4 facilities
  • Plants: import/export issues, facilities and containment, field trials
  • Compliance and regulation changes
  • Decontamination

The Convention Centre is located in the Biomedical Precinct of Adelaide. Just outside the door of the Convention Centre is a free tram which will not only take you to the major biological laboratories of SAHMRI, University of Adelaide and University of South Australia, but also the city centre, parks and Glenelg Beach.

South Australia prides itself on being one of the most sustainable and carbon neutral places in the world. South Australia has a lower net carbon emission than Denmark and the Conference Centre has won awards for socially responsibility and sustainability. 97% of the food is locally sourced and 100% recycled. The committee aims to make the 2020 conference as green and lean as possible.

Spring is a wonderful time in Adelaide with the vineyards, pristine beaches, koalas and kangaroos residing even in the urban landscape, and quaint little villages nestled in stunning tree filled landscapes. If eating organic, fresh and delicious food is your thing, this is the place to be and if you have time to stay a while, we recommend a visit to Cleland Wildlife Park and the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale wine regions.

We would be delighted to see you at the 2020 Conference, and to share with you this great opportunity to meet with other biosafety and biocontainment professionals.
