Chemical Industry Outreach Workshop

FBI – Seattle

Wednesday July 06, 2022 | 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Morning Session:
9:00 am - 11:30 am
Whatcom Unified Emergency Coordination Center (WUECC)

Afternoon Session:
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Whatcom County Plantation
Range
Bellingham, WA 98229

The goal of a CIOW is to provide awareness of improvised explosives precursor chemicals and other materials, and to create partnerships to help prevent the nefarious use of explosive precursor chemicals and fireworks.

Attendees will receive presentations in the morning on the emerging threat posed by improvised explosives.  After lunch, students will witness the detonation of a variety of improvised explosives, most of which can be mixed using common household chemicals.  This demonstration is designed to underscore the potential danger of these chemicals, both in the hands of terrorists and home-experimenters.

This training workshop takes place at two separate locations due to the improvised explosives demonstration during the afternoon session. Participants are responsible for traveling between destinations, which are approximately 20 minutes apart.

There will be a break for lunch (not provided) and time for travel from 11:30 am –1:00 pm.

Should you have any questions regarding this workshop, please reach Assistant WMD Coordinator, SA Brenda Wilson, ([email protected]) or WMD Coordinator Dione Mazzolini ([email protected]).
