CDC Salmonella Newport Outbreak Update - July 24, 2020

The CDC has provided the following information regarding the outbreak. Since the last update on July 21, 2020, an additional 87 ill people have been reported in this outbreak, including 38 from 8 new states: Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Maine, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Virginia. The outbreak has infected a total of 212 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Newport have been reported from 23 states. There have been 31 hospitalizations have been reported.

Scientists are Unraveling the Chinese Coronavirus with Unprecedented Speed and Openness

After ten days, international scientists are collaborating to share data including the genetic sequence of the coronavirus in race to learn more about the virus.  This effort will assist with development treatment and potentially to identify a cure or vaccine.  The speed at which this collaborating is happening is brand new and made possible by technology.

Update on coronavirus outbreak,  This information is current as of 23 Jan 2020 at 0730hrs EST.   The coronavirus is now know as 2019 -nCoV, it is a new strain of coronavirus not previously identified in humans.  Two Chinese cities, Wuhan with a population of 11 million, and Huanggang with a population of 7 million have been placed on lockdown with public transportation suspended.  There are 500 confirmed cases with 17 deaths in China.  Thailand has reported 4 cases.  Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and the United States have 1 reported case each.   

Coronavirus Outbreak Update

The following is an update on the current outbreak involving Coronavirus. This is information is current as of 0800hrs EST 22 Jan 2020. There have been 9 deaths and 440 individuals reported infected in China. The virus has been confirmed to be transmitted from human to human with at least 15 medical workers infected.  There are cases in Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States.
